A former Delhi Police inspector, arrested by CBI for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe of Rs one lakh from a man for removing his name from the list of accused in a case probed by him, has been granted bail by a special court.
The court allowed the bail plea of accused Ram Nivas Yadav on a personal bond of Rs one lakh with a surety of the like amount, observing that there was no apprehension that he would influence the witnesses or flee from justice.
"In the facts of the case, there is no apprehension that he will influence the witnesses. The accused is resident of NCR. He was serving in Delhi Police prior to his involvement in this present case," Special CBI Judge S C Rajan said, adding, "there is no apprehension that he will flee from justice."

Yadav is facing trial for the alleged offences under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The accused sought bail contending that he had remained in judicial custody from November 22 last year to June 6 this year, when he was released on interim bail for a month.
His counsel argued that testimonies of material witnesses have already been recorded and there was no apprehension that his client would influence prosecution witnesses.
CBI's prosecutor opposed the bail plea saying the accused was a public servant who was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe and there was every possibility that he may influence the prosecution witnesses.
The judge, after hearing the submissions, said, "in the facts and circumstances of the case, I am of the view that the applicant/accused can be granted the liberty of bail".
The case was lodged on the statement of complainant, Rao Satbir Yadav, who had said the accused had informed him about an incident that took place on August 2, 2014, in which MCD employees, working on transportation of cattle on trucks, were manhandled, leading to death of one person in a scuffle.
Rao alleged that Yadav, who was conducting probe into the case, had demanded illegal gratification of Rs five lakh from him for removing his name from list of accused in the case.
He claimed that the accused reduced the bribe amount from Rs five lakh to Rs three lakh and asked him to deliver the money on November 21, 2014, following which he lodged a complaint with CBI and the police officer was caught red- handed while accepting Rs one lakh bribe.
