Court lets off two men convicted for stealing gas cylinder

Metropolitan Magistrate Jagminder Singh allowed Joginder Singh and Putu Lal, both natives of Uttar Pradesh, to walk free after sentencing them with imprisonment for the period they had already undergone during the trial.
"The court comes to the conclusion that convicts are poor person and apologised for their guilt, therefore, in view of reformative theories of punishment, a lenient view is taken against convicts.
"Both convicts Joginder Singh and Putu Lal are sentenced in this case with simple imprisonment for the period which they had already undergone during their custody," the court said, while imposing a fine of Rs 1,000 each.
The duo had been lodged in jail for 15 days during their trial.
The case was registered on the complaint of one Mithlesh Kumar, who was then working as a cylinder delivery boy for Super Care Gas Agencies at Palam Extension here.
