Court orders issue of summons to actor, director of film

A court here today ordered summons to actor Vijay, A R Murugadoss, director of Tamil movie "Kathi" and its producers in connection with a petition filed by one Anbu Rajasekhar, who claimed that the plot of the film had been copied from his documentary "Thaga Bhoomi" (Thirsty Earth).

Principal District and Sessions Judge M N Mohammed Ali ordered issue of summons to Vijay, Muragadoss and producers Karunakaran and Subbashkaran to appear before the court on January 7 next year.

The petitioner also sought a direction from the court against dubbing of the film to other languages.

Rajasekhar had also filed another petition seeking compensation for which the the Judge directed the actor, director and producers to appear before the court on January 23 next year.
 

The petitioner submitted that the documentary was produced in 2012 and wanted to release it as a film. The documentary had won the state-level competition and was also shown in Norway. Several magazines carried good review about the movie.

"Kathi" was a copy of his plot Thaga Bhoomi, he contended.
