Court sentences elderly man to 2-yr imprisonment

A local court has sentenced a 60-year-old man to two year's of imprisonment for outraging the modesty of a minor girl in Darjeeling Hills.

Additional Sessions Judge Swadesh Ranjan Roy yesterday sentenced Tilak Mangar of Magar Gaon near Salu Tea Garden, about 15 km from Darjeeling town, to judicial custody after he was convicted of outraging the modesty of the 7-year-old.

Mangar was arrested on August 20, 2012, following a complaint filed by the father of the minor which stated that on August 19, 2012, when he was away for work along with his wife, Mangar lured his daughter and molested her.
 

Public Prosecutor Pranay Rai in his deposition said Mangar even gave the minor girl Rs 10 and asked her not to narrate the incident to anyone.
