: CPI(M) today questioned the 'silence' of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam on the issues of demonetisation and Income Tax raids on former Chief Secretary P Rama Mohana Rao and and urged him to spell out the state government's stand on these matters.
CPI(M) state Secretary G Ramakrishnan said that even BJP ally, TDP supremo and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had recently made some remarks against demonetisation.
In Tamil Nadu, both farming and industry sectors had been affected due to demonetisation, which had also resulted in job losses, he claimed.

"However, Chief Minister O Panneerselvam seems to be not bothered about these and is refusing to comment on these matters," he said in a statement titled "Why does the CM maintain silence."
On the Income Tax raids at the premises and office chamber of former Chief Secretary Rao, he said the matter has brought 'disrepute' to Tamil Nadu and asked why the Chief Minister was not speaking out on the issue.
"The CPI(M) State Committee insists that (the CM) should spell out the state government stand on these issues," he demanded.
