To meet ever-increasing demand for currency by public, work at city-based Currency Note Press (CNP) is going on a 'war-footing' in three shifts.

"The work is going on a war-footing in three shifts including on Sunday to print various currency notes, including the newly-introduced Rs 500 currency notes," Jagdish Godse, General Secretary of Press Mazdoor Sangh, told reporters here.

Similar views were expressed by Press Mazdoor Sangh's working president Gyaneshwar Jundre.

At present, around 2,500 workers are working in CNP and printing of currency of various denominations is being done on five machines, said Godse and Junre.
