Damian Lewis to play villain in 'Ocean's 8'

"Homeland" star Damian Lewis is in final negotiations to play villain in "Ocean's 8", the female-led heist movie starring Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett and Rihanna.

The 45-year-old actor will portray the ex-lover of Bullock's ringleader character and the target of her crew's scheming, reported Variety.

Spin-off from Steven Soderbergh's Ocean's trilogy, which starred George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Matt Damon, "Ocean's 8" boasts a similarly starry lineup that also includes Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, Awkwafina and Sarah Paulson.

Gary Ross is directing the film, from a script he wrote with Olivia Milch. Soderbergh is on board as a producer. Filming is currently underway.
 

It is scheduled to hit the US theatres on June 8, 2018.
