The Pathankot Police today recovered the body of Akansha Malhotra from a canal near Nalwa bridge on the outskirts of the city.
"The body of Akansha, daughter of Tehsildar cum Executive Magistrate Subhash Padam posted at Chandigharh, was recovered from canal near Nalwa bridge in the city this morning," Pathankot SSP Surinder Kumar Kalia said.
Akansha, who was married about four years back, was allegedly being tortured by her husband and in-laws for not bringing a car and cash required by them, the SSP said.
She jumped into the canal yesterday.
The SSP said while the police have arrested her husband Pujan, efforts were being made to arrest his kin in the abetment to sucide case.
