Delhi govt to create 150 posts of judicial services

Press Trust of India New Delhi

At a meeting presided by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, the Delhi cabinet gave its nod for creation of 50 additional posts of Delhi Higher Juidical Services and 100 posts of Delhi Judicial Services with ancillary staff.

The cabinet decision came close on the heels of the announcement of setting up of five fast-track courts for hearing cases relating to crimes against women.

The first of the five courts was inaugurated last week against the backdrop of national outrage against the gang-rape of a 23-year-old paramedical student.

The total number of posts at different levels would be 1085 and these were necessary for future requirements for setting up of courts as per the orders of the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court.

The recruitment of ancillary staff would be done in a phased manner, commensurate with the number of new judicial officers recruited, the cabinet decided.
