Delhi Police cop run over by truck

Press Trust of India New Delhi
A Delhi Police constable was run over by a truck in West Delhi's Punjabi Bagh area when he tried to stop the vehicle at a picket, police said today.

The incident took place late in the night when a truck loaded with cement approached Punjabi Bagh circle at a high speed, they said.

When picket constable Arya Bhushan signalled the truck to stop, instead of halting, the truck ran him over. He was rushed to Maharaja Agrasen Hospital where he was declared brought dead, police said.

The driver of the truck fled leaving behind the vehicle, which has been seized.

Arya Bhushan had joined Delhi Police in 2009. He is survived by his wife and his two-month-old baby.
