Demonetised currency found near garbage in Salem district

A heap of torn demonetised notes with a total face value of Rs five lakh to Rs ten lakh were today found in a heap near branches of two banks in Salem district, police said.
People noticed the Rs 500 and Rs 1000 denomination notes in a heap near some garbage in Athur and informed police.
Police, who seized the notes, said it weighed around five kg.
Further investigations are on.
