A woman had to deliver her baby outside a government-run health centre after its staff allegedly demanded money to admit her at the centre at Moran village in Muzaffarnagar district, her husband said.

Seema was brought by her husband Vipin Kumar yesterday to the health centre after she complained of labour pain.

According to Kumar, the centre's staff demanded money to admit her, failing which his wife had to give birth to the baby at the door of the healthcare unit.

The victim has demanded that action be taken against the staff.

Azad Vir, in-charge of the health centre, has assured her of strict action against those responsible for the episode.
