In view of the recent terror incidents in Australia and Pakistan, directives are being sent to respective district magistrates and police chiefs to pay special attention to the security of educational institutions and its pupils.
Officials are being asked to pay attention to three points for ensuring the security of schools, school children and nearby crowded places which could be soft targets of terror outfits, IG (Law & Order) A Satish Ganesh said.
"In the first place they are being asked to hold a meeting with all the school principals and managers for a security audit of respective schools. This includes review of the condition of school boundaries and security at entry and exit points," he said.

Besides they are also being directed to increase vigil at opening and closing timings of schools, increased patrolling on the main routes leading to schools before the opening and closing hours, he said.
The officials are also being asked to increase vigilance at public and crowded places, he added.
