The Tirupur Exporters' Association (TEA) today appealed to the election officials and Tuticorin district Collector not to stop vehicles carrying goods for export which was causing unnecessary problems to the exporting units.
President of the association, A Shaktivel in a letter to the Collector M Ravikumar alleged that even after showing export notice, election officials were questioning them for not quoting the currency in rupee.
He said that export goods carrying vehicles sent from Tirupur to Tuticorin were abruptly stopped and checked by officials today causing unnecessary problems to the units.

Sakthivel requested the Collector to instruct election duty officials not to stop vehicles and harass the exporters.
A requisition letter has also been sent to Chief Electoral Officer of Tamil Nadu, he said.
