Driver of senior police official injured in road mishap

The driver of a senior police official of Jangalmahal, the erstwhile Maoist hotbed, was injured when the police vehicle he was driving skidded as he tried to save a motorcyclist at Bishnupur in Bankura district today.
Sujit Majumder, the driver of the police jeep carrying West Midnapore Superintendent of Police Bharati Ghosh, applied the brake to save the motorcyclist coming from the opposite direction this morning.
The vehicle skidded on the wet road and came to a halt with a jerk causing minor injury to Majumder, Ghosh said.

The motorcyclist was, however, saved.
The incident occurred when Ghosh was on way to attend an inter-state police conference in Jharkhand. The SP cancelled her visit following the incident.
