Drunk driving: Peanut sellers run over by unidentified

In a suspected drunken driving case, unidentified persons allegedly ran over two peanut sellers in the Model Town area here, killing one of them, police said.

The occupants of the car are suspected to have been in an inebriated state when they hit the two peanut sellers, who used to ply their trade at a pedestrian crossing in the Model Town area here, police said.

Gangaram, a resident of Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh, died on the spot while the second peanut seller was injured in the incident late last night, they added. The car involved in the mishap sped off after running the duo over, they said.
 

The injured person has been admitted to Sadar hospital.

No arrest has been made so far in this connection, police said, adding that they have registered a case under the relevant sections and probing the matter.
