Two persons -- a Delhi University student and a Bangladeshi national -- who are suspected to be involved in several cases of robbery in the National Capital Region have been arrested, police said today.

Furkan alias Munna and Puran Chand, who are believed to be involved in the recent spate of robberies and burglaries in Delhi-NCR were arrested by a Crime Branch team from near Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty Hospital in Tahirpur, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav said.

Twenty-nine-year-old Furkan, a native of Barisal in Bangladesh, had earlier been arrested in 2005 in connection with a case of dacoity. He was sentenced to seven years in jail in the case and deported subsequently, Yadav said.

Puran Chand, 26, is a BA final-year student of Delhi University's School of Open Learning, the officer said.

The duo were caught carrying two country-made pistols, along with live cartridges. Foreign currencies including US Dollars, Euros and Dirhams, two mobile phones and a wrist watch were seized from them, he said.

They were involved in a dacoity in Faridabad, besides several other cases.
