A deputy forester and two guards have been suspended for allegedly being involved in a case of cattle smuggling in Kathua district.
Divisional Forest Officer Khwaja Kamuruddin placed deputy forester Ramesh Chander and guards Inkar Chand and Devi Singh under suspension for having given clearance at a check-post to two trucks ferrying cattle to Punjab, officials said.
The said trucks were, however, intercepted by police who arrested its driver.
Police have registered a case in the matter while the forest department, too, has opened probe in this connection.
