The office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEC) has issued show-cause notices to CPI(M)'s Anisur Rehman and Trinamool Congress leader Anubrata Mondal for making derogatory remarks against their political rivals.
"We have issued show-cause notices to both CPI(M) leader Anisur Rehman and TMC leader Anubrata Mondal for their comments in public rallies a few days ago," a senior EC official said today.
Rehman, a CPI(M) MLA, had made derogatory remarks against Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee and other party leaders in an election rally a few days ago.

Mondal, Trinamool Congress's Birbhum district president, too had made derogatory remarks against opposition parties during a rally.
The EC today also said they were looking into allegations against TMC MP Saugata Roy and TMC candidate from Ghatal Dev.
After the sitting Trinamool Congress MP from Dum Dum Saugata Roy allegedly urged his party workers to capture polling booths during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Election Commission had reacted promptly yesterday and asked the District Electoral Officer (DEO) concerned for an immediate report and video footage.
