Edible oils harden on firm demand

Prices of both groundnut oil and refined palmolein hardened further at the Vashi oils and oilseeds wholesale market here today on firm demand from stockists and retailers as well as festive offtake.

At the global level, palm oil for delivery in March jumped 2.6 per cent to 2,308 ringgit (USD 660) a metric tonne, the biggest increase since September 4, at the Malaysian Derivatives Exchange.

Linseed oil recovered on renewed demand from paint and allied industries.

Meanwhile, castorseed bold and castor oil commercial maintained a stable trend in the absence of any large-scale buying activity.

In the edible segment, groundnut oil jumped by Rs 20 per 10 kg to Rs 930 from last Saturday's closing level of Rs 910 and refined palmolein surged by Rs 13 per 10 kg to Rs 536 as compared to Rs 523 previously.
 

Moving to non-edible section, linseed oil rose by Rs 5 per 10 kg to Rs 755 from Rs 750. Castorseeds bold and castor oil commercial closed unchanged at Rs 4,275 per 100 kg and Rs 885 per 10 kg, respectively.
