A 70-year-old man was found murdered with multiple stab injuries on his body following a suspected daylight robbery at Samachar Apartments in east Delhi's Mayur Vihar area today, police said.
Vijay Kumar stayed at the third floor of a building in the housing complex with his wife, and the couple along with their daughter had moved there around a month ago, sources said.
The incident came to light around 1.45 PM when Kumar's daughter, who works with Rajya Sabha television channel, came to the house to check on him as he was not taking phone calls for quite long and her mother, who works with the Income Tax department, was in office.
She found Kumar lying in a pool of blood and raised an alarm, following which a neighbour rushed there and called up the police, an eyewitness said.
Soon it emerged that an LCD television was missing from the house. It is suspected that Kumar was murdered when he tried to resist the robbery, police said.
However, the number of assailants involved in the incident and their identities are yet to be ascertained, said a police official privy to the details.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Rishipal Singh did not take phone calls despite several attempts.
