An elderly woman and her three-year-old grandson drowned in a pond at Kuruvangad village near here today, police said.
Devi (65) was bathing her grandson Nandhu this morning at the pond when the child accidentally fell into the water and drowned.
The woman who tried to save him also drowned.
People nearby found the bodies floating and informed the police who rushed to the spot and retrieved them, they said.
