In order to take the issue of producing more ethanol, to reduce dependence on petroleum products for vehicles, Peoples' Movement of India, a joint organisation of various associations mailny representing farmers, today decided to field candidate in Pollachi Lok Sabha constituency.
Accordingly, a farmer, T Srinivasan, will file his nomination papers as 'Ethanol-Toddy' candidate, C Nallasami, convenor of the movement said in a release here.
Linking of rivers, use of ethanol in all vehicles, thus reducing the dependence on petrol, resulting in upholding integrity and sovereignty of the nation, allowing toddy tapping in Tamil Nadu and a separate budget for agriculture, would be major points in the manifesto of the movement, he said.
