Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar today said that farmers commit suicide across the country because they were not getting remunerative prices from the Union government.

To combat the prevailing situation, the central government should change its agricultural policy, Sarkar told the valedictory function the 22nd meeting of the North East Regional Committee of ICAR.

The Chief Minister also said that the policy should be so framed that it would ensure that farmers could earn benefits from farming.
