FIR lodged for misuse of funds for toilets in MCD schools

The Anti-Corruption Branch of Delhi government has registered the FIR against Director of Education, MCD, Premlata Kataria, East Delhi Municipal Corporation's Director of Education Kanwar Singh, Deputy Education Officer (Shahdara Zone) Tara Gupta, and others for misappropriating the funds meant for construction of toilets in MCD primary schools.

A copy of the FIR was filed before Special Judge Sangita Dhingra Sehgal on a complaint by Vijay Pal, a retired headmaster of MCD Primary School, Shahdara.

The case assumes importance as the Supreme Court had recently and also last year directed the Centre and all state governments to construct toilets in all government schools.
