Five persons have allegedly committed suicide in separate incidents in the city, police said.

In the first case, Minu Porwal (24), a resident of Malviya Nagar, took the extreme step and hanged herself from a ceiling fan yesterday, according to a police spokesperson.

She used to work with her husband at a shop here and the duo had gotten married four years ago but did not have a child. Minu was apparently mentally stressed over the issue, following which she took the step, police said.

In another incident, 34-year-old Rajendra, a resident of Chandanpur village, hanged himself as he was apparently troubled due to a mental disease, police said.

In a third incident, Anjuman (45) set himself ablaze as he was "mentally troubled" over the death of his elder sister, police said.

In a similar incident, 22-year-old Anees Ahmed, a resident of Kuriya village, committed suicide by hanging himself, police said, adding he was mentally stressed after death of his mother three years ago.

Meanwhile, Anil (25), a resident of Fajjalganj, who worked as a compounder at a private clinic, committed suicide last night. His income was very low due to which he had frequent fights with his wife, police said.
