A 32-year-old woman and her minor son were among five persons of their family killed in a car-truck collision at Koylanagar highway in Chakeri area of the city, police said today.
The incident occurred last evening on the Mangal Vihar flyover when Rohini was travelling in the car with her son, Arpit (7), sister Aruna (55), brother-in-law Kamlesh Tripathy (60), and nephew Mayank (30), a police spokesperson said.
Mayank was driving the car in a lane on the flyover but he allegedly switched into another lane to avoid of traffic.

The moment Mayank diverted the car it was hit by a truck coming from the opposite direction, the spokesperson said.
Rohini, Kamlesh, and Aruna died on the spot, whereas Arpit and Mayank were declared dead by the doctors after they were taken to a hospital in serious condition by the police.
Police said the driver deserted the truck and fled from the scene.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem a manhunt has been launched to nab the driver, police said.
