Four government employees including a senior officer were placed under suspension in Shopian district of south Kashmir after they were found absent from duty, an official spokesman said today.
A Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer and three other officials were found absent from duty during a surprise inspection of Chief Agriculture Office Shopian by a team headed by Director Agriculture Kasmir yesterday, the spokesman said.
"All the absentees have been placed under suspension with immediate effect," the spokesman said.

He said an inquiry has been ordered to look into the conduct of the suspended officials.
"Seed Pathologist S U Mir has been appointed as inquiry officer to look into the conduct of the suspended officials," the spokesman said.
