Four held for betting on World Cup cricket match

Four persons have been arrested on charges of betting during the quarter final match played between New Zealand and West Indies in the ongoing cricket World Cup, police said today.

Surendra Kumar, Nishant Singh, Mohammed Their and Shanu Mansoori were arrested yesterday while they were placing bets in a house in Dadwada area here, SHO of Bheemganj Mandi police station Harish Bharti said.

Cash worth Rs 3,830 and three registers containing transaction records of about Rs 1 crore were seized from them along with 20 mobile sets, a TV set, a laptop, charger and earphones, the SHO said.

Earlier this month, police had busted a racket betting on World cup cricket matches by arresting four people from Railway Colony area here and seized cash worth Rs 2.5 lakh from their possession.
