Four policemen booked for custodial death

Two villagers were also booked in the case, they said.

SHO Bhondsi Arvind Kumar has been sent to the police lines, a senior police officer said adding, no arrest has been made yet.

The SHO, three policemen and two villagers have been booked under the different sections of IPC including 302 (murder), he said.

Birpal Singh Raghav, a retired Assistant Sub-Inspector from Rajasthan and a resident of Bhondsi village, died after he was summoned to the police station yesterday in connection with a land dispute with one Bhagirath.

Birpal's brother Satender told reporters, "He had a dispute with Bhagirath, who also resides in the same village, and the matter was sub-judice."

 

In spite of the matter being sub-judice, Birpal was called to the police station on the behest of Bhagirath and thrashed by policemen which accounted for his death, he claimed.

"After the thrashing by policemen, Birbal was rushed to a private hospital, where the doctors declared him brought dead," Satender said.

Family members and local residents blocked the traffic movement of Gurgaon-Sohna road for four hours today and demanded against the those responsible for the death.
