A 17-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison here as she was distressed for leaving her studies midway following a financial crunch in her family, police said today.
The victim, identified as Sunita, a resident of Beri village in Kalyanpur committed suicide yesterday by consuming poison after her father Rajkumar Sharma, working at a furniture shop, could not bear the expenses of her education, police said.
According to the father, Sunita passed class 12 exams and wanted to study in a college. But due to financial crisis, she could not pursue it.
She was taken to the hospital after her condition deteriorated and died late last night, police said, adding that the body has been sent for post-mortem and investigations are underway in the case.
