Globsyn Media Ventures to invest in regional movies

Diversified Globsyn Group has decided to create a film fund under Globsyn Media Ventures with investments domestic corporates to finance regional movies.
"The size of the fund is not yet decided, but we will begin the process in the next two months," Group Director Rahul Dasgupta told PTI.
The fund, which could be between Rs 10 crore and 20 crore to begin with, will be raised from corporate investors and utilised in financing Bengali films and putting up a state-of- the-art studio.
"What we realised during production of 'Aborto' debut directoral venture of Arindam Sil that the industry lacks organised structure and this can also be introduced once corporates are involved," he said.
 
"This also gives an opportunity to offer structured finance concept to corporates interested in film production but could not foray in due to multiple hurdles in managing production," Dasgupta said.
According to the city-headquartered company's website, Globsyn is a "global outlook firm with deep domain competencies in technology, knowledge and skills".
