Goa Forward Party today criticised the increase in milk prices by Goa Dairy on the eve of Ganesh Chaturthi, and demanded a roll-back.
"Goa Dairy has unilaterally hiked milk prices by Rs three per packet of one litre. Goa Forward delegation met the Chairman, Goa Dairy, today to understand the reasons and to register protest as the price rise hits the common Goans," party's spokesman Durgadas Kamat said here today.
"It was also not right to commence such a hike at the time of Ganesh Chaturthi," he added.

The party has also written to the Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, seeking his immediate intervention.
Milk is one of the staple foods of people in Goa, Kamat said, describing the hike of Rs 3 as "crushing".
He demanded immediate roll-back of the hike. The state Government should work with the Goa Dairy to keep the rise to a bare minimum if at all it was necessary, he added.
"Goa Forward Party also expects the Government to support Goa Dairy so as to avoid the burden falling on the common Goan," Kamat said.
