Budget air carrier GoAir today said it will introduce a direct flight from the city to Kolkata next month, coinciding with the forthcoming festive season.
"GoAir, today announced the commencement of additional flights and feeder connections to deal with the growing demand for flights into Kolkata and Bagdogra (West Bengal) during the Durga puja period", the airline said in a statement.
"GoAir will be introducing its first ever direct flight from Chennai to Kolkata with effect from October 12", it said.
The additional flights would be twice daily on the Delhi to Bagdogra route to be effective from October three. While on the Delhi to Kolkata route, the frequency will be thrice daily from October four onwards, it said.
Recently, the airliner announced Hyderabad as its 23 destination and will be adding to the existing tally of 144 daily flights and approximately 975 weekly flights across 22 destinations, it added.
