Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today received a cheque of Rs 31.79 crore as interim dividend for the financial year 2015-16 for the government's 12. 35 per cent shareholding in the Numaligarh Refinery Limited.
NRL Managing Director P Padmanabhan handed Gogoi the cheque being disbursed based on the performance of the company for the first nine months of the current fiscal.
It is for the first time the company based at Golaghat district has paid its dividend to any shareholder before the close of the financial year, government officials said.
Gogoi thanked the MD and other functionaries of the company for making payment of the dividend before the close of the financial year.
