Gold slips by 0.2% in futures trade on global cues

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Gold prices fell by Rs 47 to Rs 26,582 per ten grams today in futures trade amid weak global trends.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, the October contract of gold fell by Rs 47, or 0.18%, to Rs 26,582 per ten grams in business turnover of 298 lots.

The far-month December contract shed Rs 15, or 0.06%, to Rs 26,796 per ten grams with a volume of one lot.

Analysts attributed the fall in gold futures to weak global trends before a US government payrolls report on Friday which may offer clues on whether the economy is strong enough for an interest rate rise after private jobs data showed an increase in hiring.

Gold fell 0.1% to $1,133.23 an ounce in Singapore.
