Gold worth Rs 79 lakh seized

Twenty-six gold bars worth Rs 79 lakh were seized today by customs officials from a passenger who arrived at nearby Karipur International airport from Dubai, police said.

The baggage of one Kadintnavida Faisal (30) of Kuthuparambu in Kannur was checked on suspicion this morning after he arrived by an Emirates flight, they said.

The gold bars, each weighing 116 grams, were found concealed in an emergency lamp, they added.

The man has been taken into custody for questioning,police said.
