In yet another initiative to promote academic excellence in Uttarakhand, Governor Krishna Kant Paul today defined the terms for holding an annual competition between the state-based varsities and honouring the winner among them with the Governor's Best University Award.
16 parameters will be taken into consideration for adjudging the best performing university including NAAC accreditation, smart campus, research publications, patents, schedule of convocation, schedule of exams and results, 12 B status of UGC and UGC rants, teacher-student ratio, placement record, tutorial status, report of progress of villages adopted by the university, creation of centres of excellence, and coordination with industry for training and employment, an official release here said.
The status of committees and cells constituted will also be assessed.

These will include the setting up of the anti-ragging cell, women protection cell, student grievances cell and an internal inspection committee for surprise checks.
Cultural activities undertaken by the universities and any national and international awards and honours received by them will also be among the criteria for the competition, it said.
Governor Paul has announced a series of awards to promote academic excellence in Uttarakhand ever since he took over, including, the Governor's Award for top scorers at the higher secondary level and best teachers of different disciplines.
