A government official was allegedly shot dead by some motorbike-borne assailants in Chaubeypur area here, police said today.
Krishna Murari Yadav (32), working as Additional Basic Siksha Adhikari (ABSA) in Ghazipur district, was shot dead by bike-borne assailants near his native Srishti village yesterday, Station Officer Sanjeev Kumar Mishra said.
He was rushed to Deen Dayal Government hospital and from there he was referred to a private hospital, where he died during treatment.
An FIR has been registered against three persons of which one has been arrested, Mishra said.
This is the second murder of a government official in past two months in the city.
On November 23, Deputy Jailor Anil Tyagi was shot dead here.
