Groundnut oil strengthens on pick-up in demand

Groundnut oil prices strengthened up to Rs 100 per quintal in an otherwise wholesale oils and oilseeds market today due to pick-up in demand from retailers.

However, other edible and non-edible oils moved in a narrow range in limited deals and settled around previous levels.

Traders said pick-up in demand from retailers, driven by wedding season, mainly influenced groundnut oil prices.

In the national capital, groundnut mill delivery (Gujarat) advanced by Rs 100 to Rs 8,400 per quintal.

Groundnut solvent refined was also seen in demand and gained Rs 50 at Rs 1,400-1,450 per tin.

Following are today's quotations (in Rs per quintal):
 

Oilseeds: Mustard seed 2,950-3,050 and Groundnut Seed 2,150-2,900.

Vanaspati Ghee (15-litre tin) 930-1,100.

Edible oils: Groundnut Mill Delivery (Gujarat) 8,400, Groundnut Solvent Refined (per tin) 1,400-1,450, Mustard expeller (Dadri) 7,870, Mustard Pakki Ghani (per tin) 1,250- 1,300, Mustard Kachi Ghani (per tin) 1,300-1,400, sesame mill delivery 7,500, Soyabean Refined Mill Delivery (Indore) 6,850, Soyabean Degum (Kandla) 6,550, Crude Palm Oil (Ex-Kandla) 4,300, Cottonseed Mill Delivery (Haryana) 5,800, Palmolein (RBD) 5,900, Palmolein (Kandla) 5,750 and Coconut (per tin) 2,350-2,400.

Non-edible oils: Linseed 8,400, Castor 9,700-9,800, Neem 5,350-5,450.
