Gujarat DGP Amitabh Pathak to be cremated tomorrow

Gujarat DGP Amitabh Pathak, who died yesterday in Thailand, will be cremated here tomorrow with police honours.

Pathak (58) died of a massive heart attack while holidaying with his family at a beach resort in southern Thailand.

"His (Pathak's) body is expected to be flown in later tonight," in-charge DGP Pramod Kumar told PTI.

The mortal remains of the deceased will be kept at IPS Mess, Dufnala, Shahibaug here tomorrow between 8:45 AM and 10 AM for the general public to pay their last tributes.

"Pathak will be cremated tomorrow at 10:30 AM at AMC crematorium near V S Hospital, Ellisbridge, here with police honours," said a statement issued by the DGP office.
 

Pathak, an IPS officer of 1977 batch, is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.

Pathak, who hails from Uttar Pradesh, was appointed Director General of Police of Gujarat on February 27 this year. He was due to retire in February 2015.
