Gutka manufacturing unit busted, 3 arrested

Three persons were arrested following a raid at a gutka manufacturing unit in Bhutapalli here and items worth around Rs one crore was seized from the spot, police said today.

Three persons were arrested and huge quantity of gutka and machines used to manufacture it were seized during the raid yesterday, SP (Berhampur) Sarthak Sarangi said.

However, the main accused, who operated the unit fled, he said, adding the seized items were valued at around Rs one crore.

The Odisha government has imposed ban on sale and manufacture of gutka on January 1, 2013.
