HC denies bail to Raja Acharya in kidnapping case

The Orissa High Court today turned down the bail plea of an alleged gangster in a kidnapping- cum-extortion case of 2010.

Raja Acharya, who is facing as many as 40 cases, had been granted bail by the Supreme Court earlier this year in a case involving the murder of a judo coach, Biranchi Das.

Justice J P Das of the high court denied bail to Raja in the kidnapping case today.

Raja had moved the high court challenging a trial court order which had denied him the bail in the same case last month.

The police had booked Raja on charges of extortion and kidnapping of an employee of a Bhubaneswar-based motor company.
