Madras High Court today directed prison and police authorities to immediately admit to the Multi-Speciality Hospital at Omandurar Estate here, a woman who was reportedly tortured by police at Udumalaipet in Coimbatore district.
Justice V Ramasubramanian also directed that no person from the police department, except the escort provided for the victim by armed reserve personnel, shall be permitted to meet her until further orders.
As per the court's earlier orders, the woman was produced in court today. The judge conducted in camera proceedings in his chambers for about half an hour after which he noted that she was not even able to walk.

The judge refrained from recording the entire contents of her narration and directed the authorities to admit her in the Multi speciality hospital.
He then posted the matter for September 10 and directed the authorities to produce a certificate of treatment administered to her from the Hospital.
He also directed the Hospital's nodal officer to have a team of doctors examine the victim medically and independently and submit their report in a sealed cover to the court.
The judge allowed the victim's sister to visit her in the morning and evening for one hour and directed police to depute required number of women Armed Reserve wing constables of Chennai Police to escort the victim.
The woman was arrested in connection with an alleged murder case and was reportedly tortured by Udumalaipet Police.
