HC dismisses PIL seeking monitoring of poll campaign

Madras High Court today dismissed a PIL seeking a direction to set up a special team to monitor and prevent R Thamarai Selvan of DMK and Anbumani Ramadoss of PMK from allegedly canvassing votes in the name of caste.

The First Bench, comprising Acting chief justice Satish K Agnihotri and Justice M M Sundresh, before whom the plea filed by S Abdul Gafoor came up, dismissed it after recording the submission of the counsel for the Election Commission.

The Counsel, G Rajagopalan, in his submission, said the petitioner's representation will be considered in accordance with law and appropriate steps will be taken to ensure smooth conduct of elections.
