Lawyers of Allahabad High Court, protesting against the killing of an advocate inside court premises, today announced that they would not resume judicial work until the Uttar Pradesh government removes the District Magistrate and the Senior Superintendent of Police.
At a meeting convened by the High Court Bar Association (HCBA) it was decided that "advocates would continue to abstain from judicial work tomorrow in protest against the state government's abominable dithering over the issue of removal of DM Bhavnath Singh and SSP Deepak Kumar".
"The HCBA demands that these two officials must be transferred with immediate effect and to press the demand all members would remain on strike tomorrow," the Association said in a statement.
