HCC shares give up most of intra-day gains; end nearly 2% up

Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) shares gave up most of the intra-day gains on profit-booking and ended nearly 2 per cent higher.

The stock witnessed huge buying in early session after the company bagged Rs 1,783.42-crore contract from NHAI for construction of a highway in Jammu & Kashmir (J&K).

Shares of HCC ended the day 1.68 per cent higher at Rs 18.15 on the BSE. During the day, it surged 8.68 per cent to Rs 19.40.

At NSE, shares of HCC rose by 1.67 per cent to Rs 18.20.

In terms of volume, 26.69 lakh shares of the company changed hands at the BSE and over one crore shares were traded at the NSE during the day.
 

"The company has been awarded a prestigious NHAI contract worth Rs 1,783.42 crore to construct a 36-km highway, which includes 3 kms of tunnels between Ramban and Banihal in Jammu & Kashmir," Hindustan Construction Company said in a BSE filing.

HCC President and CEO - E&C Arun Karambelkar said: "This project not only allows us to further expand our presence in road-related business segments, but gives us immense pride as this highway will contribute to infrastructure growth of our nation.
