Helicopter services to snowbound tribal Lahaul valley resumed

The first helicopter sortie between Tandi in Lahaul Valley and Bhuntar (Kullu) took place today with 20 passengers on board bringing cheers to tribal people.

The helicopter flew over the Rohtang Pass (13,050 ft) to bring the people from tribal area to Bhuntar.

Meanwhile, work on the Rohtang Tunnel - an ambitious project of the Ministry of Defence to construct 8.8 km long tunnel to provide all-weather connectivity to tribal areas - has been hampered due to snowfall and ingress of water.
