Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) said here today that it has been awarded a contract worth Rs 442.52 crore by IRCON International Ltd to construct a tunnel and two bridges in Northern India.

"The company has been awarded a contract worth Rs 442.52 crore by IRCON International Ltd to construct one tunnel and two bridges between Aprinchala and Sumber stations on Dharam and Qazigund Section of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla new broad gauge railway line project. The project will be completed in 48 months," a company statement said here today.

The contract involves construction of a 5.1 km long tunnel called 'T49A', the substructure of 445-metre long 'Bridge 2' and a 346-metre long 'Bridge 3', besides earthworks at Sumber Yard totalling a 6.4 km stretch on the Dharam-Qazigund Section of the Jammu & Kashmir rail link. This stretch is contiguous with the 10.2 km long T48 tunnel between Sumber and Sangaldan stations, which is currently being constructed by HCC.
