A Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) jawan allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself in Champawat district as he was apparently depressed over being HIV positive, police said.
26-year-old Santosh Pawar shot himself with his service rifle at his post in Thuligad on the Purbagiri Dham road, Champawat SP D S Kunvar said today.
As per the information received from SSB, Pawar was depressed as he was HIV positive, the SP said.
No suicide note was recovered from the spot, he said.
